KARACHI: Sindh is the centre of the great Indus civilisation that is believed to be one of the greatest civilisations of the world. Peace and brotherhood is the message of the Sindhi civilisation and it was delivered to the world through Sufis and Saints.These views were expressed on Thursday by Sindh acting governor Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Sindh Power Minister Shazia Marri and Sindh Assembly Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza at the NJV High School while addressing a programme in connection with the Sindh Culture Day.Khuhro said Sindh had taken the initiative in the foundation of Pakistan. Zulfikar Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had sacrificed their lives for the country and a son of Sindh is leading Pakistan today with the politics of reconciliation, Khuhro added.“Every son of Sindh loves the culture, heritage and language of this land, as we believe that if a person who is not loyal to his land, he cannot be loyal to anybody,” he said.
From this land, Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Sachal Sarmast, Zulfikar Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and many others have given the world the message of peace and brotherhood, he added.Marri said the Sindhi cap and Ajrak are the identity of the province and these are the symbols of dignity and respect.“We have been empowered by the constitution of Pakistan to promote our language and culture. Therefore, we have to tell our young generation that we are the heirs of a great heritage and culture of the world,” she said.Pakistan needs to promote its culture and regional languages through which the country would grow stronger, she added.Raza said the people of the province are proud that the heroes of this land have sacrificed their lives for peace and humanity.
