138 electricity thieves fined Rs 1.8 million

LAHORE: In a drive against power theft, 138 electricity thieves have been fined Rs 1.8 million and police cases have been registered against them by the LESCO in Gulistan sub division during the current week.The LESCO team charged 1,74,000 units worth Rs 1.8 million to power pilferers while FIRs have been lodged against 18 pilferers who were stealing electricity through the main supply. LESCO Public Relations Manager Javaid Ahmad Khan said that the campaign has been intensified. Javaid said the help of citizens and power consumers was necessary and he also requested electricity consumers that if they find any pilferage of electricity, they should report it immediately.
