ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that he would chair a Balochistan specific Central Working Development Party (CWDP) meeting in Quetta in the coming weeks after Eid to approve new important schemes for the development of the province. He said that though the government is not in a position to take up any new projects under the PSDP because of resource constraints caused by the recent devastating floods yet an exception is being made in the case of Balochistan.
The Prime Minister while meeting with the Chief Minister Balochistan and his delegation at Prime Minister Secretariat on Monday evening said that funds for ongoing development schemes in Balochistan are promptly released on receipt of demand of the province to ensure timely completion of the projects. The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities to complete the repair work on the major highways connecting Balochistan with other provinces on priority basis to accelerate the pace of development in the region. He has observed that most of roads in Balochistan have been damaged mainly on account of large transportation of goods and fuel for the coalition forces in Afghanistan, therefore, Pakistan needs to take up the repair issue with them.He asked the Finance Minister to take up this issue with the coalition forces to finance the heavy expenditure of repair work.Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for giving special attention to the development of his province.
