KARACHI: The city returned to normalcy on Sunday after Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq was laid to rest on Saturday. However, some parts of the metropolis, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town and some parts of SITE Town, continued to remain closed. Security personnel unblocked all roads linking to MQM headquarters Nine Zero, which had been blocked for security concerns. Businesses in different localities opened and citizens resumed routine life, as they thronged different markets. Shops in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Azizabad, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad and their adjacent areas resumed normal business. However, the weekly bazaars and the Sunday Book Bazaar at Regal Chowk could not be opened due to uncertain circumstances. Private vehicles were also seen plying the roads; however, public transport was thin as compared to normal days – Daiyltimes
