The 11th Fashion Pakistan Week officially started on 22nd February in Karachi. Fashion Pakistan with a long tradition of holding bi-annual fashion weeks, is the country’s leading platform for fashion designers , is committed to encourage and promote upcoming fashion designers and brands.

This particular installment of Fashion Pakistan Week has presented trends for spring summer 2017 by 25-30 of the country’s best fashion designers and retail brands.
This year also marked Fashion Pakistan’s 10th Year Anniversary. Established in 2007, the local fashion fraternity’s representative body was created by the designers, for the designers. The council has brought the Pakistani Fashion on the global map, introduced the concept of Fashion Weeks, Formalized business of Fashion and has launched many world acclaimed local designers and talent in the industry. Fashion Pakistan pioneered the concept of Fashion Weeks in Pakistan with the very first Fashion Pakistan Week, held in 2010. Since then, the Council has continually looked to new ways to support and bolster Pakistan’s growing fashion industry.

The line-up for Day 1 of Fashion Pakistan week included collections by acclaimed designers like Ayesha Farook, Nauman Arfeen, Nida Azwer, Tena Durrani and FNKASIA, special segment to showcase upcoming designers in Bank Alfalah Rising Talent where designers Tooba chottani, Areej Iqbal, Fatima Abdul Rauf, Zafar Ahsan Naqvi presented their creative collections. Urdu 1 Pictures also gave a curtain raiser to its upcoming movie “Mehrunisa V Lub You” through a special segment. The Day one came to an end with Tina Durrani.

Day one of fashion Pakistan week saw a lot of celebrities walking the ramp for the designers, Aimen and Muneeb Butt walked the ramp for Nauman Arfeen’s wild wild vest collection, stunning Sumbul Iqbal was the showstopper for FNKASIA and beautiful Syra Shehroz walked the ramp for Tina Durrani.
Fashion Pakistan – Bank Alfalah Rising Talent Showcase saw four emerging designers who showcased their collections through the Bank Alfalah Rising Talent platform at the opening day of Fashion Pakistan week. Bank Alfalah Rising Talent Programme aims to motivate, inspire and recognize young and upcoming talent in the country and provides them with opportunities to showcase their talent. The four debut designers contending for the Bank Alfalah Rising Talent Award and trying to make a mark in the Pakistani fashion industry included Tooba chottani from Asian Institute of Fashion Design, Zafar Ahsan Naqvi from Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture and Fatima Abdul Rehman from Pakistan Institute for fashion design.

The four designers exhibited their collections for the very first time at the day one of the Fashion Pakistan Week 2017, and got the encouraging response from the audience. Through this award, the Bank provides a prestigious platform for young designers to showcase their designs and win a cash prize of Rs. 500,000. The best designer, chosen through a transparent voting of jurors and public, will be announced on Finale Day of FPW S/S2017. While talking about of FPW’17 S/S, Deepak Perwani Chairperson of Fashion Pakistan Council, said, “Ten years celebration is a mile stone for a council that was made for designers by designers ,today we stand as a leading platform for promoting young designers ,leading brands and debutants, taking forward the business of fashion. Here is to another ten years of fabulous fashion”.
