A blast ripped through a bus carrying government employees on Wednesday killing at least 15 and wounding 28 another in Peshawar, media reported Wednesday.

The explosion took place this morning near Gharbi Police Station in Saddar, a busy shopping district, as the bus was picking up government workers to take them to their offices. At least 15 people were killed and 28 others were wounded, police and rescue officials said The dead and injured were shifted to Cantonment Hospital and Lady Reading Hospital where emergency was declared, as police and security forces cordoned off the area.

SSP Operations Abbas Majeed said the blast was caused by a time device of about eight kg planted inside the bus. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani confirmed number of casualties, saying that investigation is underway to determine security flaws. He said the bomb attack might be a backlash of Zarb-e-Azb operation by militants. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman strongly condemned the blast and expressed grief and sorrow over loss of lives.
